Post-operative Rehabilitation & Reconditioning
Surgery, injury, hospitalisation and prolonged periods of inactivity can result in significant reductions in strength, fitness, mobility and confidence.
Once the early stages of recovery have been completed, Exercise Physiology can help bridge the gap between initial rehabilitation and returning to normal daily activities, work, recreation or independent exercise.
Rebuilding Strength & Physical Capacity:
Rebuilding Strength & Physical Capacity
At Territory Sportsmedicine, your Exercise Physiologist will assess your current physical capacity and develop a progressive program based on your procedure, recovery stage and functional goals.
Your program may include:
- Progressive resistance training
- Cardiovascular conditioning
- Functional strengthening
- Mobility and movement exercises
- Balance and coordination
- Gradual return to everyday activities
- General reconditioning following extended inactivity
Progressing Beyond Early Rehabilitation
Following surgery or significant injury, Physiotherapy will often play an important role in the initial stages of rehabilitation.
As recovery progresses, Exercise Physiology can provide the increased volume and progression of exercise required to rebuild broader strength, endurance and physical capacity.
Because our Exercise Physiologists and Physiotherapists work within the same clinical team, rehabilitation can be coordinated as your needs change.
Reconditioning After Hospitalisation or Illness:
A period in hospital, prolonged illness or reduced activity can affect the entire body rather than one specific area. Even normal activities such as walking, stairs or shopping may become more demanding.
Exercise Physiology provides a structured and progressive approach to rebuilding this lost capacity.
From Rehabilitation to Independence:
Our aim is to help you progress from recovery to confident, independent activity. Your program is continually adapted as your strength and fitness improve, helping you safely work towards the activities that are important to you.
